Professor Fu-Dong Shi

Prof. Fu-Dong Shi is a neurologist specialized with management of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), myasthenia gravis (MG), inflammatory neuropathy. He completed his clinical and research training in Peking Union Hospital, China, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, The Scripps Research Institute, California, USA, and Barrow Neurological Institute, Arizona, USA. Shi and his research team study clinical, immunological and neuroimaging features of these neuroinflammatory disorders and corresponding animal models, advance a number of disease modifying therapies for MS/NMOSD with special considerations of China. In addition, Shi also examines mechanisms governing the emergence of brain inflammation after ischemic stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage and explores immune modulatory therapies in stroke. Shi won the first and third session of “China Stroke Innovation Research Award”, He also obtained one American invention patent. Shi has published 160 articles and 11 monographs in journals such as Nat Immunol, PNAS, Nat Rev Immunol, J Exp Med, Ann Neurol, Neurology, JAMA Neurology, Circulation, Nat Rev Neurol, Nat Neurosci, Immunity, and etc.
